You will be expected to support a range of tasks that can include:
• Research on current and upcoming trends and hot topics: regulatory and governance changes (e.g., IC-VCM, Art. 6, COP 30); review and change in the carbon certification standards landscape; the rise of carbon certification standard labels (e.g., ABACUS, CORSIA, Corresponding Adjustments, SDGs, etc.); the potential of natural assisted generation to benefit from carbon finance; the jungle of intermediaries and procurement challenges on the VCM; the use of digital monitoring reporting and verification technologies, etc.
• Technical consulting work: emission reduction calculation, monitoring and data analysis, drafting of technical reports, analysis of developing legislation, carbon finance project eligibility assessment, among others.
• Others: supporting education material drafting, implementing of team work improvement measures, etc.

Q&A Webinar 2024 and Internship Blogs
Last year, we held a webinar in a Q&A format that was hosted by our Business Manager and presented by 2 of our consultants who have been through the internship programme in recent years. This webinar is available to view here: 2024 Internship Webinar — Hamerkop, and contains many questions and answers applicable to HAMERKOP, the journey from Intern to Associate and the application process. A must watch.
We have also asked last year's successful interns (who are all now Associates) to write a short blog on their individual journeys and can also be found here: The HAMERKOP Internship Experience: Three Perspectives — Hamerkop
HAMERKOP is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourages all candidates to apply.

About Hamerkop Climate Impacts
HAMERKOP IS AN ENABLER - AN INDEPENDENT & TECHNICAL CONSULTANCY OPERATING WORLDWIDE.
Headquarted in London, HAMERKOP supports carbon project developers in the Global South and the carbon market ecosystem, to enable emission reductions associated with strong environmental and social integrity. We support energy access and nature-based solutions projects.
HAMERKOP is one of the very few recognised and independent technical service providers on the carbon market.
We mainly work in developing countries, where we provide technical consulting services around 3 main pillars:
1. PROJECT: certification and implementation of projects contributing to the fight against climate change. We help climate change mitigation projects to certify so they can partially or fully be financed by the sale of assets on the carbon markets. We also carry out early stage feasibility studies, support the implementation of activities and monitor projects’ ongoing impacts.
2. MARKET: independent expert advice on the carbon markets. We provide technical risk-related due diligence to carbon credit buyers and project sponsors and strategic advice to project developers on strategies for selling their assets, raising funds and understanding current or future legislation. We also provide educational support on the state and structure of carbon markets, as well as emerging trends.
3. POLICY: climate change policy and projects. We help countries in the Global South formulate and revise their climate change strategies and roadmaps. We work with international organisations and government authorities for the design and evaluation of climate change adaptation or mitigation projects (including ecosystem conservation and restoration), programs and policies, eligible for climate finance.
HAMERKOP works at the intersection of the public and private sectors, with governments, international organisations, NGOs and private companies.
We help our clients design, implement, manage and monitor projects and activities in the energy and forestry sectors that deliver measurable social and environmental impacts and are eligible to climate finance mechanisms.
HAMERKOP has embarked in a growth strategy and is looking for consultants to grow its team to 14 by the end of 2024.
